"A Quiet Man" by Jory@mibba

Jory, otherwise known as wahhBAMM on Mibba, is a young story-writer with a small portfolio. Many of you may be familiar with her romance, Wildflower, featuring Iris and Griffin; others may not be familiar with her works at all. Due to various links, I stumbled across her profile page, immediately recognising the aforementioned story. But always on the prowl for a good read, I came upon A Quiet Man, her most recent update, and fell in love with an introduction and one chapter.

Geoffrey Downing is an addicting character, in that his thoughts are so typical and his actions are described very vividly and realistically. He is a man that could be cut out and inserted into real life, and being able to do that is a true gift. His story is still very young, and the introduction is more of a post-summary, which very well could be the summary, and a single chapter. Yet, in that chapter, a door is opened into his world that I can’t seem to back out of.

This quiet, awkward man who is not used to speaking to women has just met the woman that is sure to shake things up. Mickey Magee is forward, blunt, and clearly not inhibited by usual norms. She is clearly the catalyst that will form the major conflict in the story, and will potentially draw Geoffrey from outside of his little bubble.

It is sad to see only one full chapter available to read, but I’m sure that with some subscribers and comments, Jory could be inspired to write more. After all, every writer needs a little support. With only one comment up to date, that being from me, and a wonderful story in the making, A Quiet Man deserves much more than one comment. This story receives nine coffee stains out of ten, and perhaps with a little bit of luck, there will be more Geoffrey to go around.

"Writing…is my life. I love writing so much that I tend to disregard everything else that’s happening in the world just to spend time with myself and my characters. Sometimes I wish I could be “normal” and then I realize that being who I am, and what I am, makes me special because, if I think really hard on it, I know myself. I know every little thing that there is to know about me because tiny bits of my persona are in every last stinking one of my characters. I’ve been wounded with very few negative comments and have grown from them, maturing as both a person and a writer. There’s no substitute for the rush of getting comments on a story, or the serenity of being alone with people that aren’t real. I know that I have potential; I just really want other people to see it too."
