seasonal features: winter anthology

.

To celebrate one of the most favoured times of the year; Chalk is going to put together an anthology in celebration of winter and the holidays. The anthology will be comprised of an introduction and then a series of themed original stories submitted by young writers. These stories must be short stories, comprised of a maximum of three chapters completed, or roughly 3,000 words. There is no fan fiction allowed, but you are encouraged to write originally with your own characters. Each author is allowed to submit more than one piece of writing, but the author must submit the work themselves. There are no nominations allowed for this anthology.

Along with the submissions, each writer will include a small piece of biographical information that should equal out to about 100 words or less. If chosen, the author will have their small biography posted at the end of the anthology. Stories may have been entered in previous contests or anthologies, and can have been prewritten or newly invented. As one can assume, each story must be themed around the anthology – winter or holiday, whichever one you would like. If the theme is not readily found in the story it will not be accepted.

For general rules on grammar and content, please see the submission guide.

To submit an application, please ensure that you read the guidelines above. If found to not be following, your submission will not be accepted. If you have, then please continue to the application below:

Application closes: January 3, 2011.

"Writing…is my life. I love writing so much that I tend to disregard everything else that’s happening in the world just to spend time with myself and my characters. Sometimes I wish I could be “normal” and then I realize that being who I am, and what I am, makes me special because, if I think really hard on it, I know myself. I know every little thing that there is to know about me because tiny bits of my persona are in every last stinking one of my characters. I’ve been wounded with very few negative comments and have grown from them, maturing as both a person and a writer. There’s no substitute for the rush of getting comments on a story, or the serenity of being alone with people that aren’t real. I know that I have potential; I just really want other people to see it too."
