The following are questions that are commonly asked by readers. If you find that your question is not here, please email chalk(at)crookedteeth.org and it will be answered.

Q: How do I apply for Author Advert?
A: Either click here for full information, or email chalk(at)crookedteeth.org with the following information: (a) name, (b) link to home/profile, (c)150 words describing their writing style/work.

Q: Are there certain qualifications you need to be advertised?
A: No, anyone is welcome to apply for advertising. You simply must wait your turn.

Q: How do I affiliate/support Chalk?
A: By clicking here or emailing us at chalk(at)crookedteeth.org with the following information: (a) your name, (b) site title, (c) site summary in 50 words max.

Q: Do you accept only writing sites for affiliation?
A: We accept all sites, but we separate the non-writing sites from the writing sites under different pages.

Q: Can anyone submit an article?
A: Yes, but I implore you all to use proper punctuation, grammar, spelling, and format when submitting. I have the right to turn anyone away who does not use those elements accordingly.

Q: What are the parameters for articles?
A: Click here for the articles sub-page, and depending on what kind of article you plan on submitting, click the appropriate link.

Q: What happens if my article is rejected?
A: You will be asked to revise it for further structure or mechanical errors, and you may re-submit once it has been fixed up.

Q: Does my article have to be about writing?
A: This is a site dedicated to writing, so yes. But that does not mean that your article has to be purely on the art of writing - it can be about elements of the whole writing process, including classes, writing sites, magazine submissions, etc.

Q: When there isn't a guest writer to crit my work, who is the default?
A: I am. All crits that I have not gotten to when a guest arrives may be transferred to the guest, but only if that option is selected.

Q: How do we get an interview?
A: I choose writers who I believe deserve to be dissected and revealed to the writing world.

Q: Can we apply for story recommendation?
A: You can suggest a story by sending an email to chalk(at)crookedteeth.org, or you may write a recommendation on a story yourself.

Q: What happens if my Tutor request has not been accepted?
A: Possibly your strengths were not supported by your audition piece or I felt that your skills were not developed enough to help out other writers. You are welcome to reapply with a different piece, but if I indicated clearly what was missing from your list, then please don't take it personally.

Q: How do I acquire a Tutor?
A: You simply go to the Tutor page, or click here and look for the tutor that appeals to you, and under their 'contact' method, please feel free to contact them in their preferred way to ask for their assistance. Beyond that ad, Chalk is no longer involved.

Q: Do you provide Tutor assistance?
A: Unfortunately not, I have little time and I would hate to keep another writer waiting for me to finish my opinion. I do offer the 'ask a question' service, though.

"Writing…is my life. I love writing so much that I tend to disregard everything else that’s happening in the world just to spend time with myself and my characters. Sometimes I wish I could be “normal” and then I realize that being who I am, and what I am, makes me special because, if I think really hard on it, I know myself. I know every little thing that there is to know about me because tiny bits of my persona are in every last stinking one of my characters. I’ve been wounded with very few negative comments and have grown from them, maturing as both a person and a writer. There’s no substitute for the rush of getting comments on a story, or the serenity of being alone with people that aren’t real. I know that I have potential; I just really want other people to see it too."
