Crits

.

The crit service is available for writers of all genres and styles to apply for constructive feedback on their work. As young writers, there is always room for improvement and a crit proves to be far more helpful then a friend or family member. The service is offered in hopes that writers will take advantage of this opportunity to have their flaws pointed out, and perhaps useful advice to be given. By applying for a crit, writers must acknowledge that they are views and opinions, and if a writer disagrees with a comment, that is perfectly fine. Each crit is public, and will be displayed in the archives.

Writers now have the option of a regular crit, spanning over the entire written piece, or a quick crit which evaluates a maximum of three chapters. A quick crit is guaranteed to be finished much faster than a regular, and can offer useful advice in the introductory chapters. There will be special guests available to comment on writer’s work during specific visiting times, otherwise there is only one reviewer. If there are any additional comm ents or concerns, feel free to contact the administrator at: chalk(at)crookedteeth.org.

"Writing…is my life. I love writing so much that I tend to disregard everything else that’s happening in the world just to spend time with myself and my characters. Sometimes I wish I could be “normal” and then I realize that being who I am, and what I am, makes me special because, if I think really hard on it, I know myself. I know every little thing that there is to know about me because tiny bits of my persona are in every last stinking one of my characters. I’ve been wounded with very few negative comments and have grown from them, maturing as both a person and a writer. There’s no substitute for the rush of getting comments on a story, or the serenity of being alone with people that aren’t real. I know that I have potential; I just really want other people to see it too."
